Netravti Peak Trek
Tucked inside the Kudremukh Forest Range in Chikmagalur district, Netravati Peak is one of Karnataka's most rewarding yet lesser-known treks. Standing at an altitude of approximately 1,520 metres, the trail covers around 12–14 km round trip and is rated moderate in difficulty — making it genuinely suitable for first-time trekkers as well as seasoned hikers looking for a quieter Western Ghats experience. The route winds through dense shola forests, open grasslands, and seasonal waterfalls along the Netravati River tributaries, culminating in panoramic views of Kudremukh Peak and the Rani Jhari valley. This is also the birthplace of the Netravati River — one of the sacred rivers of coastal Karnataka — giving the trek a quiet spiritual significance alongside its natural beauty. The best season to visit is October to March, with Samse Village near Kalasa serving as the base camp and starting point.
