Gangadikal Gudda Trek
The Dezuko-valley of Karnataka, Gangadikal is an offbeat gem nestled in the Western Ghats of Karnataka, located close to Kudremukh National Park in Chikmagalur district. The peak stands at 4,806 ft (1,458 m) and the trek covers approximately 7 km one way, typically taking 5–6 hours to complete — rated easy to moderate, making it accessible for beginners with decent fitness. Bounded by steep hills and valleys that bear the brunt of severe monsoon winds, the terrain discourages dense tree growth, giving way to sweeping open grasslands across the forest range. From the summit, you are rewarded with a unique perspective of the Kudremukh range — endless shola grasslands stretching as far as the eye can see, the crystal-clear backwaters of the Lakhya Dam shimmering against the green landscape, and on clear days, distant peaks like Kurinjal and Valikunja coming into view. As one of the treks recently opened by the Forest Department, prior online booking and a mandatory forest guide are required — keeping this trail refreshingly uncrowded and pristine
